Central Park pollen

The dogs and I walked up to Belvedere Castle to get this shot of Turtle Pond this morning. That's tree pollen covering the water. Notice the trail left by swimming ducks. I didn't see any turtles and you know, we've got 16 inch and larger snapping turtles living in there (along with the red ear sliders so many children have set free here). No sunshine for the poor things to sun themselves. The dogs and I wandered around the park this morning with swollen eyes and we wanted to post this photo to show you why. Zyrtec, smertec, the pollen wins.

  1. "red ear sliders"...are those the little turtles that they used to sell in Woolworths?

I kind of like the duck trails, but the pollen looks like muck or algae to me!

  2. Yes, those little turtles in their little plastic bowls. Some are "yellow eared." The trails are neat, but, yes, it looks like muck. The heavy rain this weekend has cleared a lot of it, finally!
