National Dog Day: Help Support, Rescue & Protect Dogs in Need

National Dog Day: Help Support, Rescue & Protect Dogs in Need: "National Dog Day serves as an opportunity to make the public aware of the large number of dogs that need to be rescued each year. This August 26th, recognize the value and impact your dog has on your life by making a vow to love and protect the unfortunate canines who are abandoned and left without loving homes in the U.S. each year."

While I know we all honor our dogs and what they mean to us each and every day, what a great idea it is to have a National Dog Day to raise awareness of dogs in need, an opportunity to teach children about animal welfare and what they might do to help pets in need, and, to have some fun at the same time.

For the kids: Check out Crayola's website for fun things to download, coloring pages, cards, and for the teachers in your life, share the link because Crayloa also provides pet-related lesson plans and ideas.

Be sure to visit PetCentric's official NATIONAL DOG DAY 2009 webpage and find links to all the events celebrating the Dogs Of Our Lives on this special day. Don't forget to enter your dog in the Silliest Dog Of The Year 2009.

Giorgio says every day is Dog Day! Woof.
